Recipient Honored at AAFD Total Quality Franchising® Awards Banquet

May 2024, ENFIELD, CT – The American Association of Franchisees and Dealers (AAFD), a national trade association advocating for franchisees and independent dealers, recently announced the recipient of the Robert L. Purvin Legacy Award recipient for 2024. Attorney Howard Bundy was presented with the Robert L. Purvin Jr. Legacy Award at the AAFD’s Total Quality Franchising Awards banquet on Tuesday May 7 during the AAFD’s Annual Franchisee Leadership Summit, May 5-8, at the Marriott St Louis Grand, in St. Louis, Missouri.

In 2018, the AAFD leadership created the Robert L. Purvin Jr. Legacy Award in the name of the AAFD founder to recognize individuals whose contributions to fair franchising have left a legacy of service and support deserving of the recognition and appreciation of the entire franchising community.

Howard Bundy has dedicated his legal career to franchising. He consults with prospective franchisees, advising them on making good business decisions before entering a franchise relationship, and will represent them in the dispute resolution process whether that involves negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation. He was a franchisee lawyer before the birth of the concept of franchisee lawyers. He also advises franchisors on transactional matters and advises them in all legal and related business aspects of complying with the complexities of franchise laws and regulations.

Howard is well respected among his peers, working with many franchisee organizations and serving on various boards and committees, such as the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA), Franchise & Business Opportunities Project Group, which is the state regulators which enforce the franchise laws. He has also been active on the American Bar Assocation (ABA) Forum on Franchising, participating in many of the groups that concentrate on franchising.

In his own state of Washington, Howard has been instrumental in advocating for franchise laws, resulting in what many consider the strongest franchise statutes in the country.

Richard Rosen congratulates Howard Bundy, the recipient of the 2024 Robert L. Purvin Jr. Legacy Award, honored at the AAFD Total Quality Franchising® Awards Banquet.

“Howard has been a great resource for me, both on legislative and legal matters,” commented Keith Miller, AAFD’s Director of Public Affairs and Engagement. “He never wants to be in the spotlight, and I believe he takes the most satisfaction in making a difference without anyone noticing. This award is recognizing, that despite your best efforts, we have noticed, and that your impact over your career in franchising has truly left a legacy.”
