FranchWire Reviews The Franchise Fraud

I was really thrilled to discover that a new franchise ezine, FranchWire, had chosen my book The Franchise Fraud, to review as their first book club selection.

Even though the reviewer, Sherri Stracher, read an older version of my book, she still took some powerful takeaways from the book, which she details in her review. Mainly:

  • Don’t get caught up in the hype (referring to the popular assumption that franchises have a higher success rate than independent businesses)
  • Don’t make assumptions about the franchise agreement
  • Ask a ton of questions

I hadn’t heard of FranchWire before this review, but when I checked out their website I found it to be filled with lots of good franchise information. Looks like they might be an up-and-comer in the franchise news niche. (They certainly have good tastes in books!)

Even though I originally wrote The Franchise Fraud back in 1994, the lessons and problems identified in the book are unfortunately still relevant today. Since its original publication, I have updated the book to more accurately reflect current trends in the franchising industry. Surprisingly, I haven’t actually ever had to overhaul the content. The serious issues that inspired me to “blow the whistle” in The Franchise Fraud unfortunately are still alive and well.

The Franchise Fraud is available in hardback, paperback and as a Kindle edition from Amazon. I appreciate the many reviews and recommendations that have identified my book as a necessary resource for anyone considering investing in a franchise.
