Project Description

An entrepreneur growing businesses in the St. Louis area and beyond, while promoting justice as a municipal judge.
April Porter graduated from Washington University School of Law and began her career as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, specializing in child abuse, sexual assault and homicide cases. Her exemplary record led to her appointment as Municipal Judge for the City of Clarkson Valley. She was a rising star in the legal community, but left to follow her entrepreneurial passion and opened Porter Health & Fitness, LLC in 2014.
Under the umbrella of PHF, Ms. Porter opened four 9Round 30 Minute Kickbox Fitness locations in less than 3 years, growing from one employee to 25, now known as 9Round StL. As a result, 9Round StL was named one of the Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies by St. Louis Small Business Journal in 2016, 2017, and 2018, and Business of the Year for West St. Louis County in 2015, received the first ever Wildwood Business Appreciation Award in 2017, and voted Best of Northwest for 2018.
Through her involvement in the business community, Porter began to mentor other small business owners, offering workshops on topics social media marketing, creative marketing, developing a robust sales process, training a team to exceed the owner’s standards, designing duplicatable processes and procedures leading to effective delegation. To her delight, the owners experienced such positive growth that her fifth company, AP Consulting, LLC, was born.
Turning another passion into profits, Porter began her sixth enterprise in 2017 with her husband, Porter Travel Designs, LLC.
Porter has been featured in Entrepreneur.com, Club Solutions Magazine, KSDK, KMOV, St. Louis Magazine, Love In the Lou, and the Small Business Journal, and a speaker for organizations such as Connecting and Promoting Women, the Chesterfield Leadership Conference, Little Black Book Networking, West County Young Professionals, Statewide Sheriff’s Training, National Technology Conferences, StL Retreats, the St. Louis RISE Conference, etc.
