Recently, Keith Miller, AAFD Director of Public Affairs and Engagement, was invited to participate in an interview alongside Attorney Eric Karp on “A Deeper Dive” podcast hosted by Jonathan Maze, editor of Restaurant Business. During the half an hour interview, Keith and Eric elaborated on the many aspects of the September 22, 2021 Petition to the Federal Trade Commission, requesting to the FTC to investigate the franchise industry. The petition was filed by the law firm of Witmer Karp Warner & Ryan LLP (as counsel to AAFD member the National Coalition of Associations of 7-Eleven Franchisees) and Keith Miller. The interview touched on the historical content of the industry, the high likelihood that a more stringent regulation may be coming and that it will be enforced during this Administration, and the laws and regulations in different states.
