Erica counsels and assists commercial clients in developing new franchise programs, protecting their intellectual property, complying with franchise laws and regulations, and resolving franchise relationship disputes. She also assists individuals evaluate franchise opportunities and assists them with business formation and ownership structuring. Erica also has a thriving real estate practice and frequently represents clients in commercial lease and purchase transactions.

Erica received her J.D. from Texas A&M University School of Law where she graduated with honors. Prior to law school, she received her M.A. in Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management from Southern Methodist University and her B.A. in International Studies from the University of North Texas.

Before law school, Erica worked with nonprofit organizations. She directed the America Reads program at the University of North Texas, interned with Mosaic Family Services, and managed the volunteer program and food pantry for Metrocrest Services. Through these roles, she gained specialized knowledge of the management and needs of nonprofit organizations.

During law school, Erica interned with Legal Aid of Northwest Texas and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Through her internships, she worked on civil litigation, real estate, and probate and estate issues. While in law school, she also served on the Texas A&M Journal of Property Law and participated in the Community Legal Access Clinic.

Post law school, Erica served as staff counsel for a family office where she gained legal experience in corporate law, real estate transactions, estate planning, and nonprofit organizations.

Richard L. Rosen, the founder of The Richard L. Rosen Law Firm, PLLC, has been actively engaged in the practice of franchise law in New York City for over 40 years, during which time he has represented countless franchisors and franchisees, both as counsel and as a business adviser.  Mr. Rosen has been engaged in virtually all aspects of franchising during his career.  He has counseled and represented franchisors in the setting up of franchising systems and programs, formed franchising entities, drafted and negotiated franchise agreements, multi-unit area development agreements, master franchise agreements, registration statements, disclosure  and other ancillary franchise documents; represented franchisees and franchisee associations; litigated in both state and federal courts; and mediated, arbitrated and litigated matters on behalf of both franchisors and franchisees.  He has represented franchisors and franchisees in essentially every field.

Mr. Rosen is a founding member and immediate past chairman of the Franchise, Distribution and Licensing Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, a member of the Steering Committee of the National Franchise Mediation Program, The CPR Institute For Dispute Resolution Distinguished Panel of Neutrals and the Chairman of the AAFD’s Fair Franchising Standard’s Committee.  He has frequently lectured on a variety of franchise topics before various groups and has been interviewed on both television and radio, the American Bar Association Journal, the Franchise Times, The Wall Street Journal and Forbes Magazine, regarding franchising.  Mr. Rosen is a contributor to “Franchising 101, The Complete Guide to Evaluating, Buying and Growing Your Franchise Business” compiled by the Association of Small Business Development Centers and has written many articles on the legal and business aspects of franchising.  Mr. Rosen and his firm are the authors of the section on Franchise Law in the United States which appears in the Third, Fourth and Fifth Editions of the (International) Franchise Law Review as well as the review of franchise law in the U.S. which appears in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 International Comparative Legal Guide to Franchise Law.
