SAN DIEGO, Nov 2014 – The American Association of Franchisees and Dealers (AAFD) announced today the formation of several new franchise associations as chapters of the AAFD. Each chapter will leverage the combined voices of all its members to establish an environment of collaboration between franchisees and franchisors. Oftentimes, this includes negotiating to improve the brand and grow mutual respect, brand success, and unit profitability.

Each of the six franchise systems is in a different stage of the association development process. All the new chapters have formed steering committees and are actively defining the goals of their chapters and recruiting members. BrightStar Care® is the fourth AAFD chapter in the home care industry. AmeriSpec® Home Inspection Services is a sister brand to ServiceMaster Clean® and Merry Maids®, which also have launched AAFD chapters. Three separate franchise systems all owned by Clockwork Home Services – Benjamin Franklin Plumbing®, Mister Sparky®, and One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating® – have joined together to form the Home Services Franchise Association as a multi-brand chapter. Window World® franchisees have launched a new chapter just as this release is to issue.

“In the past few months, interest in forming a franchisee association has increased significantly,” said Robert Purvin, Chairman of the AAFD. “The spark to form a chapter is different for the franchisees in each franchise system, but the overall reason is always the same. Franchisees want a collaborative franchise culture and fair treatment from their franchisors, and that’s exactly what an active AAFD chapter can help them achieve.” Purvin added, “We are excited to be working with all of these groups and look forward to helping them achieve our vision of Total Quality Franchising.”

The AAFD acts as a catalyst in the franchisee chapter formation process by providing coaching, offering a vehicle for organization, helping franchisees build a leadership structure, and providing tools to support an effective franchisee association. The AAFD further helps chapters build effective leadership, define goals and objectives, build a compelling membership purpose, and open a constructive dialogue with their franchisor management team.

The AAFD characterizes itself as the oldest, largest, and most respected generic direct member franchisee trade association in the United States. The nonprofit organization has formed exclusive chapters for over 80 franchise systems and seeks to foster its vision of Total Quality Franchising—a collaborative franchise culture that respects the legitimate business interests of franchisors and franchisees.
